HRT — is it helpful, or is there something deeper that we also need to look at?
I’ve been pondering this one recently.
Since launching my Akashic Menopause Programme, I’ve had some really interesting conversations with women who have already been through menopause.
Several of them have said something similar:
“I wish your programme had been around when I was going through it.”

One of those women was my own mum.
Some of the women I’ve spoken to had hysterectomies quite young and were subsequently prescribed HRT. One woman I spoke to had hers in her late thirties and was later taken off HRT around the age of sixty.
My mum experienced something similar, although her hysterectomy was later in her forties.
And what really caught my attention was what some of these women described happening when their HRT was stopped.
They said their menopause symptoms came back or started — in some cases, they described it as hitting them like a freight train.
Now, I want to be really clear here.
I am not a medical professional, and I’m not saying this is what happens to everyone.
HRT is a choice and for some women, it can be incredibly helpful, and if you are taking it, or considering it, that is something to discuss with your doctor or menopause specialist.
But it did make me stop and think.
Because perhaps there are different layers to menopause.
There is obviously the physical layer — our hormones are changing, and our bodies are changing.
But what about everything else?
The beliefs we’ve carried.
The experiences we’ve lived through.
The guilt.
The shame.
The lack of self-worth.
The times we’ve put everybody else first.
The relationships where we’ve accepted less than we deserved.
The trauma.
The self-sabotaging patterns.
The parts of ourselves we’ve pushed down for years.
From my own spiritual perspective, I see menopause as much more than simply something happening to our bodies.
I see it as a threshold.
A time when we are being invited to look at what we’ve carried, recognise the wisdom in what we’ve experienced, and perhaps finally begin to let some of it go.
Not because we somehow caused our menopause symptoms.
And not instead of looking after our physical health.
But because perhaps our emotional and spiritual wellbeing deserve attention too.
So when women tell me that their symptoms returned/started after stopping HRT, it does make me ask a question:
What if supporting ourselves through menopause could include looking at the physical, emotional AND spiritual layers?
What if there are things we can begin to release that tablets alone can’t address?
This is the work I do.
I work on the soul level, using Akashic Record clearings to explore the programmes and patterns that may be keeping us stuck in suffering, guilt, shame, self-sabotage and a lack of self-love.
And if you’ve already been through menopause, you may be thinking:
“I wish I’d had this then.”
Well, you don’t have to be in the middle of menopause to begin looking at what you’re ready to release.
I’m going to be launching my Akashic Menopause Programme again in November.
It’s a 12-week journey of Akashic Record clearings, exploring the patterns and programmes that can keep us from feeling fully ourselves — and creating space for greater self-love, acceptance and moving forward.
Perhaps this is the perspective you’ve been looking for.
And perhaps it isn’t.
But if something in this has made you pause and think, “Hmm… maybe there is more for me to explore,” then I’d love to hear from you.
Tell me in the comments:
What was your experience of menopause?
And if you’d like to know more about the November programme, I’ll pop the link below so yo
u can have a look and decide whether it’s something that feels right for you.
Have a beautiful day, wherever you are.
Much love,
Lorraine x
