Do We All Receive the Same Spiritual Downloads?

Something I have been reflecting on recently

If we’re all connected to one Source, is it possible that more than one person receives the same inspiration at the same time? And perhaps the difference isn’t who receives it, but who chooses to act on it.

I often think about an interview with Michael Jackson where he was asked why he would get up in the middle of the night to write or record a song. His response was something along the lines of, “If I don’t, Prince will.”

Whether he meant it literally or metaphorically, I’ve always found that fascinating. It suggests the possibility that inspiration isn’t owned by one person. Instead, perhaps it exists in a shared field of consciousness, waiting for someone to bring it into form.

I’ve been thinking about this because I recently saw someone post that another person had “stolen their idea.”

Now, of course, there are situations where people deliberately copy another person’s work without acknowledgement, and that can be deeply frustrating. But I’m talking about something different.

I’m talking about those moments when two people, who may never have met, seem to arrive at remarkably similar ideas, teachings or creations around the same time.

I’ve never believed inspiration is exclusive.

My own belief is that many of us are tuning into the same collective wisdom. We may interpret it differently because we each bring our own experiences, personalities and gifts, but the underlying message can be remarkably similar.

Perhaps inspiration isn’t something we possess.

Perhaps it’s something we receive.

As human beings, we like ownership. We like to believe, “This is my idea,” “This is my teaching,” or “This is my message.”

But can wisdom truly be owned?

I’m not sure it can.

If we’re all connected, then maybe ideas move through humanity like currents in the ocean. Different people catch different waves, yet the ocean belongs to no one.

I’ve certainly had moments where I’ve had an idea, sat with it for weeks or months, only to discover someone else has already brought something similar into the world.

Years ago, that would have disappointed me but now I see it differently.

Maybe I was meant to witness it.

Maybe I was meant to be inspired by it.

Or perhaps I was simply one of many people receiving the same invitation from life, and someone else chose to act first.

That doesn’t diminish my own path.

It doesn’t mean I’ve missed my opportunity.

Because even if two people share a similar idea, no two people will ever express it in exactly the same way.

Your voice is unique.

Your life experiences are unique.

Your energy is unique.

The people who are meant to resonate with you will always find you because they are connecting with who you are, not simply what you teach.

I’ve come to realise that comparison closes the heart, whereas inspiration opens it.

If someone creates something beautiful that encourages healing, growth or hope, perhaps that’s something to celebrate rather than compete with. After all, isn’t that why most of us do this work?

Isn’t the purpose to help people?

To awaken something within them.

To remind them of who they are.

If our work inspires someone else to create, to serve or to heal, then perhaps that isn’t something we’ve lost.

Perhaps it’s something we’ve contributed to.

Maybe the real question isn’t, “Who had the idea first?”

Maybe it’s, “How can I honour the inspiration I’ve been given in my own authentic way?”

Because no one can be you.

No one can tell your story.

No one can share your heart quite like you can.

And perhaps that’s where the true gift has been all along.

I always say that no-one else is you so own it, and shine your authentic light. After all, the astrology is telling us to do exactly that as the North Node of destiny steps into Aquarius.
